Nauvoo Temple Pictures

We have grown to love Nauvoo and don't want to leave.  We were able to do a session in the Temple.  After we were done we got to see Joseph's sword, and some of the first aprons.  We also got to see the baptismal font.  It is really big.  As we left the Temple, it was so peaceful outside you could just feel the spirit of Nauvoo.

Bugs?

There were so many bugs in Nauvoo.  You felt like you had a special wave getting them out of your face.  At night we would go and look for fireflies.  It was fun when you would find them they have a little light that blinks.

Inside some of the houses

When we went through the houses everyone had beautiful antiques!  I could have stayed in them all day.  The missionaries would tell us stories of the person that lived there as they gave us a tour.  Here is a few pictures that I took.

Bakery

We went into the bakery and they showed how they baked things in the old brick ovens.  They had also made gingerbread cookies that they gave us.

Carthage Jail

As we toured the Carthage Jail it was very quiet.  We listened to the stories that the missionaries told us about what went on here.  As we went upstairs and into the room where they were killed, I got very emotional, thinking that this is where our dear beloved Prophet Joseph Smith  spent his last days.  Jeff told us that the floor boards still have blood on them so they turned them over so that no one can see them.  While Joseph was in there he asked John Taylor to sing a song.  It was "A Poor Wayfaring Man of Grief".  The morning that all of this happened he wrote Emma a letter, "I am very much resigned to my lot, knowing I am justified, and have done the best that could be done.  Give my love to the children and all my friends...May God bless you all."  I was very touched by Joseph Smith and all of the many things that he went through.  My testimony has grown so much by being here and in Nauvoo.  I love our Prophet.
