Our Trip To Nauvoo
We went to Nauvoo the week of June 10-14, 2013. We were blessed to go with some great firends, Jeff&Kathie Marsh, and Scott&Verlene Jensen. We first stopped In St. Louis at the Gateway Park and Arch. They built this for a gateway to the west. They put cranes on each side to build it starting from the bottom to the top. We rode inside a little tram (3 of us in each one). It took us up to the top of the arch. Then we got out into this narrow walkway which was the top of the arch. We could see out both sides of the arch, it was such a beautiful view. We saw the Cardinals Stadium from up there also. When we were done we rode the trams back down. In the museum Jeff told us a story about Joseph Smith. He was riding with a lady and her baby and two congressmen. The driver stopped and got off. He forgot to lock it in place. The horses took off running. The lady was so scared she was going to throw her baby out the window. Joseph Smith climbed out, went on top of the stage coach and stopped the horses. He saved all the people. They wanted to give him an award for saving them, they were so grateful. They asked him his name and he said Joseph Smith. They said, you mean the Mormon? He said, yes. They never spoke to him again because he was Mormon.
